What to include when you book a private chef
The more the chef knows up front, the closer the first menu and quote will be to the final one. Include:
- Date and occasion: the day, a rough start time and what you're celebrating
- Guests: how many, and how many are kids
- Dietary needs: allergies, restrictions and strong dislikes
- Kitchen setup: your home, a rental or a lake house, and what the kitchen has
- Service style: plated, family-style or weekly meal prep
Mention it if you'd like a server or bartender, or if you have a budget in mind. Planning a dinner party, a dinner at an Airbnb or lake house, or weekly meals from a personal chef in Albany, NY? Say which, and the chef can plan around it. Not sure whether you need a private chef or a personal chef? Describe what you have in mind and the chef will help sort it out.
What happens after you request a private chef
A local chef reads your request and follows up to talk through the menu and the price. Expect a question or two about the kitchen, the timing or your guests. Nothing is booked until you've agreed on the menu and the quote.
Call or email to book a private chef
That works too. Call (518) 765-7832 or email hello@518privatechef.com with the same details, and a chef will take it from there. If you're emailing about a rental, attach a few photos of the kitchen.
